Emilee Anderson
Emilee was named to the Development Team of Women’s Ski Jumping USA this season after she qualified in October to represent the U.S. at the inaugural 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck. Emilee will be making history as this event in January marks the first time women will be allowed to ski jump in an International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event.
She started ski jumping when she was 5, following in the footsteps of her older sister, Elisabeth, a former jumper who now attends Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Emilee said that her sister stuck with it and did so well that she wanted to be able to do the same thing.
Emilee proudly represents the Central Division as a member of the Flying Eagles Ski Club.
Her longest jump so far of her young career is 86.5 meters on a K90 jump. While she travels many weekends for competitions throughout the Mid-West and East Coast, she’s never been to Europe to compete. Getting to represent the U.S. in the Youth Games is a huge honor, she said, and is one of her goals and a dream come true.
When not training or competing, Emilee likes to do what most teens do: hang out with friends, watch movies and cross-country ski and road bike.
