Anna and her three older siblings learned to ski and ski jump at the Blackhawk Ski Club in Middleton, WI. At age two Anna would stand next to her mom while her older siblings would launch themselves off the small ski jumps. After watching this for a while, Anna got impatient. She’d stomp her foot and say, “My turn to jump!!” Eventually her mom let her slide down the bottom half of the small jump landing. She’s been jumping ever since.

Being a Midwestern jumper Anna spent many hours in the family van traveling to most of the 12 ski jumping clubs in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois. This experience helped her learn to adapt to many jumping situations.  Also, coming from a smaller club, along with her family and fellow club members, Anna grew up helping prepare the jumps for the winter tournaments. This meant helping sidestep, bucket, shovel and rake snow to prepare the jumps. When she’s back in Madison, Anna still trains at Blackhawk.

The summer of 2015 and 2016 Anna got the chance to participate in Fly Girls. This intensive training time really helped propel Anna's jumping skills. Her first time attending Junior Nationals in Salisbury, CT in February of 2016 she took first in the women’s individual and team competition. Next Anna wanted to qualify for Junior Worlds. To achieve this she trained and competed at Lake Placid, NY, Park City, Utah and took two trips to Europe including time in Slovenia, Germany and Norway.

When she wasn't traveling this year, Anna balanced taking a full load of high school classes and participated in the school’s cross country running and track teams. She is also president of her high school Rotary youth service club called Interact. Anna volunteers for an Interact project that helps young women from Ghana to stay and finish high school. When she has free time, Anna likes to cook and hang out with her dog Lucy.

Fun Fact:  Anna was a test jumper on March 4, 2017 for Sarah Hendrickson on the Nansen Ski Jump in Berlin, NH. The jump had been closed for 32 years. Sarah and Anna were the only two people who jumped the renovated tower. It will be closed for future jumping but will be used as a park and historic landmark.
